"We are so thankful we found Karen Russo. What she said was true-even though it was a lot of work for
both her and us it was worth the time and commitment. She knows what she is doing and we didn't. We know
that we could never have gotten the attention we did without her help, expertise and one-on-one consulting
with us. The surgery that was so desperately needed would have never been provided nor would the treatment
have been provided to preserve eyesight. We could not have saved the life of our loved one without her.
We continue to follow what she has taught us to do and we stay alert and up to date with the healthcare
issues across the board and with the legislative changes. Ms. Russo was always there no matter what hour
of day or night when we needed to talk to her. We highly recommend her expertise to anyone who is having
problems with the healthcare delivery of the incarcerated and where unnecessary suffering and death is such
a real concern."    St. Joseph, Missouri

"To anyone that has a friend or loved one incarcerated who is sick or dying, I want them to know there
is hope and help. I found it-in K.Russo and The Wrongful Death and Injury Institute. I highly recommend her.
She is brilliant, conscientious and a dedicated person who is driven to help those who don't know how or what
to do. She is very professional yet personable and has the knowledge needed to get things done. She will guide
and direct you through the process step by step, educating you on what must be done in order to be heard and
to obtain desired outcomes. Your loved one has no one else to help them but you, but without the knowledge
and expertise Karen has, you won't get far. I would encourage anyone, if they are serious and concerned about
someone who is sick or dying to contact her and learn. Every situation is different and she has the gift of
navigating through it all. She is aware of the policies and procedures of hospitals, mental health policies,
contract providers and the death investigation system nationwide, and so much more. You will need to listen
to her and follow through and NEVER give up. Your loved one is counting on you. I did not know how to go
about getting my son medical help until I contacted Ms. Russo."    State of Florida

"Up 3:00 am, painfully overcome with the fear of making the wrong decisions concerning a civil suit
against a state Institution-an institution responsible for the death of my youngest son who was murdered
while in their care. I had fired one lawyer and was within one week of dealing with a new lawyer who was
using intimidation tactics to control me into decisions I was not comfortable with. I didn't know which
way to turn. I needed a new lawyer, one I felt comfortable with and at this point, I had so little time
left to make a decision. What do I do? Do I continue with a lawyer I don't feel comfortable with or what?
Do I continue with no answers? No understanding? I searched out others who had walked in my shoes and
found a woman's story that was very much similar to what I was going through. At the end of her story
she had said "thank you" to The Wrongful Death & Injury Institute & Ms. Russo who helped her make it
through her horrible ordeal. I contacted Ms. Russo, and immediately I felt peace. Finally, someone who
understood what I was saying, did not cut me off, and knew what I needed to do. It was liberating.
I felt free from fear. She provided explanations that were clear and concise, provided an overview
of what I was to expect and put me in touch with a remarkable attorney. She gave me peace of mind.
Thank you Karen for setting me on the right course. Knowing that you're a phone call or email away
assures me that everything will be alright, to stay alert, focused and continue to educate myself in
the issues."    Commonwealth of Virginia

My 21 year old son, who has PDD NOS, an Autism-Spectrum disorder, was sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison.
The weeks following were definitely the darkest I've known. My fears were intensified because of the unknown.
I thought surely as a result of his condition and poor decision making skills he would never make it through.
His attorneys and the Judge ignored his diagnosis. After hearing about Karen Russo and The Wrongful Death
and Injury Institute I contacted her and feebly attempted to explain the situation-his ongoing condition,
my fears asking for help but not knowing what to specifically ask for. Without prompting Ms. Russo knew
intimately the situation facing my son, what to do, and proceeded to educate me in the nuances of healthcare
delivery and possibility of death that forever should become a real concern for anyone incarcerated and
their families. She jumped in and started providing critical information to me and for me before I had time
to send a dime! That night I slept for the first time without crying! She knew exactly what we needed to do
and how to do it. In hindsight I have no doubt that his low-medium classification and appropriate, safe
placement is greatly due to the involvement, consulting, and teaching of Ms. Russo and the Institute. She
is available at a phone call's notice if any difficulties arise. "Thank you" just isn't enough."
